Planning a holiday with a newborn needn't be stressful. Although it's perfectly acceptable to go crazy on the kings road all in the name of "baby essentials that MUST be bought" (any excuse to shop!), we thought it best to compile a "Little List" to get you on the right track from the start. So grab your credit card and put it to good is with these summer essentials for a newborn.

. Babyzen yoyo +

The babyzen yoyo+  can be taken on the plane as hand luggage (meaning you can keep it with you through the whole of the airport and right onto the plane!) and is easily the most lightweight and portable stroller around. It also comes with a bassinet for a baby so can be used from the second your baby is born!

2. Snooze shade

Little handy little baby sun shade fits perfectly over all types of buggies so that you can protect your little one from the burning sunshine. It has handy little zip (meaning you can take a peek at your baby easily and without disturbing them when they are sleeping.) It also works perfectly as a black out shade so that your baby can sleep in the comfort of darkness (even if it's bright sunshine outside!) whilst also keeping them cool inside the pram.

3. Sterilising bags

Dreading the thought of lugging your steriliser half way across the world? Thankfully these handy little bags are compact and easily fit into a suitcase without taking up any space at all. All you have to do when sterilising is add water, pop your bottles etc in and put it in the microwave. They come in packs of 5 and each bag can be used 20 times. I love the Dr Browns steralising bags the most.

4. Mosquito stickers

These adhesive diffusers contain eucalyptus, lemon grass and tea tree so are suitable from birth and perfect at keeping the dreaded mozzies at at. Simply stick them to your baby's pram, cot or even clothes - thanks to the non permeable adhesive layer the eeeential oils never enter incontact with the skin so it's perfectly safe for babies!

5. Baby swimming float

For little ones who just want to chill out at the pool, this gorgeous baby swimming float is exactly what every family needs! Now all you need is an umbrella straw in their milk bottle and the holiday would have certainly begun!

6. Babymoov Babyni Pop-Up 3-in-1 UV tent / Playpen /Activity Gym (Tropical)

This gorgeous play pen will be in my suitcase from now on and accompany me on ALL holidays. The anti-uv babyni protects against up to 99% of the harmful uva and uva rays, sand and wind. Its easily 'pops us' into a playpen within seconds and is lightweight and compact so can be taken anywhere (hello Blue Marlin Beach in Ibiza!) It has three lovely  3hanging detachable toys tp entertain your little one and tfeatures a pull-down canopy complete with mosquito net.

7. Baby sunglasses

My best tip here is MAKE SURE YOU BUY YOUR BABY PROPER SUNGLASSES. Don't skimp on the price as your baby's eyes should be number one priority so the sunglasses need to be able to protect them as much as possible from the glaring sunlight. I Love the Babiators Sunglasses,

8. Baby sunscreen

Mustela is hands down the best baby suncream in my opinion. It has very high sun protection  and is the only sun cream I could find that can actually be used from birth upwards (most suncreams - believe it or not - are from 6 months upwards!)

9.  Swim nappies

Splash about happy nappies are genius if holidaying with a newborn. Not only do they keep any 'accidents' inside the swim short, but they also come in some pretty gorgeous designs. With Patrick determined that rupert will become a sailor (and mummy quite liking the idea of us getting a sailing boat!) these little 'boat' happy nappies were completely perfect for our little man!

10. Black out blinds

My favourite black out blind without doubt is the Gro Anywhere blind. It suctions onto any window which is perfect is you want your baby to have a nap in a sunny climate. It's clever design also means that you can make the blind as big or small as you like so that it fits onto any window.

11. Muslin sleep bag (Eden and Anais)

This was a complete revelation on our first holiday away. We had become obsessed with baby sleeping bags due to the fact it saves you worrying about your baby slipping down under a sheet and not being able to breathe. But I must admit, I never realised there was a summer 'muslin' version for when the weather gets hotter. And with these gorgeous designs it's hard not to buy at least 5 of them!

12. Chico Lullago Zip Travel crib

We were so lucky to have stumbled across this travel cot and it will now be an essential on every holiday (and the best bit - it lasts up until your baby is 18 months. thanks to the handy zip at the bottom of the crib that turns it into  bed!)  It  an be easy folded and opened in only one minute (we timed it!)  and has a padded foldable mattress with mesh side windows (perfect for ventilation in hot climes.)

14. Ergopouch coocoon swaddle

The gorgeous Australian brand (the Aussies always get it right!) Ergopouch is another must have on your packing list. Not only does it transform from a  swaddle to a sleeping bag but the bell shaped bottom apparently promotes healthy hip development (something essential if Rupert wants to practice his dancing in Ibiza!) The best bit about this holiday essential is that it has a TOG rating so you can choose the right tog for the right climate!

15. Skybaby travel mattress

The SkyBaby Travel Mattress has been designed to make flying with your baby easier and is the first travel mattress designed specifically for use on aeroplanes. Working with the infant loop belt, it allows your baby to lie across your knee in a natural sleeping position, helping to soothe them on their next flight. Babies can also be carried on and off the plane on the mattress so that they are not disturbed
